At two in the morning, the artwork may still have your attention. Your journey home needs a plan of its own. Taipei's 2026 Nuit Blanche runs from Saturday, October 31 at 14:00 to Sunday, November 1 at 02:00. You can join in daylight, stay for the evening, or make a late night of it. There is no prize for doing all twelve hours.
This year's centre of gravity is Yuanshan: Yuanshan Natural Landscape Park, the Yuanshan area of Taipei Expo Park, Tatung University and the Qingguang neighbourhood. The Taipei Department of Cultural Affairs announcement confirms those dates and areas. This is a planning guide checked on October 10, not a review of an event already visited.
Save the date, then choose your version of the night
The main festival is free to attend. Check individual programme pages for booking, capacity or participation rules before making one performance the reason for your trip. Free admission doesn't guarantee a place in every activity.
The title, NIGHT KA SHI, draws on Taiwan's nakashi tradition of mobile performance. It is a useful way to approach the evening: follow a few things that interest you, then leave room for what happens between them. Trying to turn the whole programme into a checklist would miss much of the pleasure.
For a first visit, we'd choose one starting area and two or three works. Keep the rest optional. With children or someone who tires easily, the afternoon start gives you another way in; check the exact hours of your chosen works rather than assuming everything runs continuously.

Mei-Chi Wu, Moving the Forest. Bird, plant and nature imagery is reassembled through movable cubes. The official description invites viewers to change the relationships between species and surroundings by turning and rearranging them. This is our pick for someone who likes looking closely rather than immediately reaching for a phone. See the artist and work.
Chung-Kun Wang, Rondo Disco 2026. A tilted circular platform uses people's weight and gravity to generate movement and sound. The intriguing part is the simple physical premise: the visitor helps make the work happen. Participation and access should follow the instructions at the work, not this description. See the artist and work.
Chung-Han Yao, An Electronic Monster #51: Midnight Music Box. The announced installation connects bodily movement with changes in music, light and pace. It reworks familiar supermarket music into electronic dance music. We'd bookmark this for the point when you want the evening to get louder. These are programme-based picks, not firsthand verdicts. See the artist and work.
Save the official pages now, then check locations and performance times again before leaving. Don't assume that a work's presence in the programme means it will be operating whenever you arrive.
Two useful arrival points, one important exit decision
The organiser's transport page identifies Yuanshan station on the Red Line for Taipei Expo Park and the main area, and Zhongshan Elementary School station on the Orange Line for Qingguang and the art-in-shops area. Pick the station closest to your first confirmed stop. New to the system? OQUA's Taipei MRT guide explains the basics.

At this check, the event transport page did not specify extended MRT operating hours. Confirm the last train for your actual journey with Taipei Metro before travelling, including transfers, or arrange another way home. A vague plan to work it out later is less appealing when everyone else is leaving too.
We'd build a short evening around arrival, one work, a meal or break, and one more work. This is an editorial planning suggestion, not an official route or a promise about queues. Let the final programme determine the order.
Eat before the queue becomes dinner
Have a proper meal before your main viewing stretch. Keep water in your bag, choose shoes you've already walked in, and leave enough phone battery for navigation and the journey home. A lightweight rain layer is easier to carry than the hope that the weather stays dry. Check the forecast and organiser notices on the day; an outdoor event can change.
If you're extending the trip into a Taipei weekend, the night-market guide can help you choose a separate food outing. Treat that as another plan, rather than assuming every market or shop will follow the festival's hours. For more dates to work around, start with Taiwan, This Month.

The nicest part of a city festival can be comparing notes with the person beside you, while your feet get a vote in what happens next.
